Uma das situações que eu mais aproveitei durante a Copa foram as conversas informais entre nós voluntários e todos que estavam trabalhando no estádio ou em alguma área relacionada ao evento. Posso dar uma ideia dos problemas e do que poderia ter sido melhor por aqui na África do Sul fazendo um resumo do que me falaram.
Antes de tudo, percebemos a dificuldade na administração da grande quantidade de voluntários e a determinação da tarefa de cada um. Assinar a entrada e saída dos dias de trabalho (como se fosse “bater o ponto”) já era um teste de paciência. Imagine centenas de voluntários tendo que entrar na fila mais ou menos na mesma hora para assinar, pegar os vouchers de alimentação e as bebidas as quais tínhamos direito. Era quase sempre uma confusão. Uma divisão das listas entre os líderes dos grupos poderia ter facilitado pelo menos isso.

Segundo ponto: a dificuldade para comer. Em Cape Town, ou você ia muito bem alimentado e levava algum lanchinho na bolsa para poder se manter durante as horas de trabalho, ou você acabava tendo que enfrentar uma longa fila e caos dentro do Mc Donald’s, lanchonete mais próxima e onde valia nossos vouchers. Mais uma vez, como todos iam ao mesmo tempo, era o próximo teste de paciência a encarar.
Já as dificuldades no trabalho específico de cada área eram diferentes. Na parte de assistência ao público, posso dizer que se uma reunião era marcada às 13h, só iria ocorrer às 14h30. Os atrasos eram frequentes e a falta de informações também. Além disso, todos os dias surgiam novas regras, isso sem contar que algumas mudavam durante o dia de jogo.
Acho normal ter que adaptar alguns pontos, afinal sempre surgem novidades, os torcedores inventam alguma bandeira diferente, fantasias duvidosas, utensílios que podem ser perigosos, entre outras situações inéditas que realmente requerem novas soluções. No entanto, além da polícia, quem encarava o público de frente nas horas boas e ruins eram os voluntários, portanto era necessário que todas as dúvidas fossem resolvidas, e as regras fossem bastante claras, para não ter confusão na hora H.
A comunicação entre os estádios de diferentes cidades também poderia ter sido melhor, assim não escutaríamos tantos “Lá em Port Elizabeth eu entrei com essa bandeira” ou “No Soccer City eles permitem guarda-chuvas”. Todos deveriam ter um rigor igual ou bem parecido.
Imagino que a Fifa tenha tido um belo trabalho em escolher, convocar e treinar voluntários, sendo que muitos se inscreveram por motivos que definitivamente não eram trabalhar, o que acabou dando dores de cabeça aos nossos coordenadores. No entanto, eles também tinham nas mãos pessoas que estavam ali pela alegria de ajudar o evento a ser maravilhoso, que queriam aprender, conhecer pessoas, que estavam dispostas a dar o melhor de si. Todo esse potencial poderia ter sido muito melhor aproveitado.
No fim das contas, paciência foi o maior desafio para todos nós, de acordo com os voluntários com quem eu conversei na nossa última reunião. E, apesar disso, todos saíram felizes e satisfeitos de terem feito um bom trabalho, terem colaborado e feito parte da história nesta Copa. Fora as novas amizades e troca de cultura entre todos.
Conhecemos pessoas de todos os continentes, países ricos, pobres, conservadores, tropicais, passando por crises ou guerras. O Mundial, que teve como mote o respeito à diversidade, principalmente após o país ter enfrentado o apartheid, movimento separatista que dividiu brancos e negros por aqui, conseguiu reunir gente de todos os lugares, cores e escolhas. Essa, na minha opinião, foi a maior contribuição nossa com a Fifa e com todos nós mesmos.
Espero que essa oportunidade possa chegar a quem tiver interesse nas próximas Copas. Realmente vale a pena.
