A seleção brasileira chegou na quarta-feira (30) aqui em Port Elizabeth por volta de 22h30 para jogar as quartas de final da Copa contra a Holanda. Como estou em uma “guest house” (uma casa em que os donos alugam os quartos) no mesmo bairro do hotel onde a seleção está hospedada, bem na hora que eu estava na rua a caminho de um restaurante, o ônibus dos jogadores passou ao lado do carro em que eu estava.
A cidade, e principalmente essa região do hotel dos brasileiros, Summerstrand, está lotada e ficou difícil para quem quis conseguir acomodação na última hora.
Hotéis, pousadas e albergues em que passei perguntando o preço nos arredores de Summerstrand estão cheios, o que acabou sendo bom para essas pessoas que fizeram de suas casas hospedagens na época da Copa.

Wendy, a proprietária da casa onde eu consegui um quarto, contou que a cidade está movimentada desde o início do Mundial, apesar de Port Elizabeth ter sido, aparentemente, uma das cidades que menos vendeu ingressos para as partidas.
A casa de Wendy tem três quartos e todos estão alugados, sendo dois para brasileiros, pelo menos até sábado, um dia depois do jogo. A cunhada dela, Denise, também resolveu adotar a mesma prática para ganhar um dinheiro extra durante o evento. Ela está cobrando por volta de 500 Rands (ou R$ 125) por uma suíte da casa dela. E também foram dois brasileiros que acabaram ficando com ela.
No Boardwalk, um shopping a céu aberto próximo ao hotel da seleção, é possível ouvir português a todo momento, em qualquer loja ou restaurante, inclusive no internet café em que estou agora. O funcionário daqui também disse que o movimento não diminui nunca desde o início da Copa. Comércio formal e informal estão aproveitando. Nada mais justo.
Para quem ainda não tinha ingresso, não foi um problema encontrar hoje na cidade. Passei por pelo menos umas 10 pessoas que queriam vender. Sendo uma delas pelo mesmo preço que pagou.
Espero que toda esta torcida, parte ficou na frente do hotel dos jogadores hoje (1º) durante a tarde, consiga empurrar o Brasil para frente na sexta (2).
