Fifa multa Espanha e Holanda por cartões na final da Copa do Mundo

Mais de 20 dias depois do término da última Copa do Mundo, a Fifa anunciou nesta terça-feira que irá multar a Espanha e a Holanda pelo alto número de cartões recebidos pelos jogadores das duas seleções na final da competição, realizada em Joanesburgo, na África do Sul.
A entidade que dirige o futebol mundial divulgou que a Holanda terá de pagar 15 mil francos suíços (cerca de US$ 14,4 mil) depois de oito jogadores da seleção receberem cartões amarelos e o defensor Heitinga ser expulso na decisão.

O árbitro inglês Howard Webb ainda mostrou cinco cartões para os jogadores da Espanha, punida com uma multa de 10 mil francos suíços (aproximadamente US$ 9,6 mil).
O código disciplinar da Fifa possui uma cláusula sobre a conduta da equipe que faz com que uma federação de futebol de um país seja multada quando pelo menos cinco de seus jogadores são punidos com cartões em uma partida.
A partida entre Espanha e Holanda, disputada no último dia 11 de julho e que terminou com vitória por 1 a 0 para os espanhóis, bateu o recorde de cartões em finais de Copa do Mundo. Até a decisão do Mundial, o maior número de aplicações de cartões havia ocorrido em 1986, quando seis amarelos foram mostrados na final de 1986, vencida por 3 a 2 pela Argentina contra a Alemanha.
A decisão entre Espanha e Holanda também foi o jogo com maior número de cartões entre os 64 confrontos do Mundial de 2010. O duelo entre Chile e Suíça, com nove amarelos e um vermelho, foi o que teve o maior número de punições aos jogadores na fase de grupos da competição.
A punição financeira aplicada contra espanhóis e holandeses terá apenas efeito moral, já que a Espanha recebeu US$ 30 milhões pela conquista do título mundial, enquanto a Holanda ganhou US$ 24 milhões pelo vice-campeonato.
