Os principais jornais espanhóis comemoraram a vitória da Alemanha sobre o Uruguai, neste sábado, como se fosse uma vitória da seleção da Espanha. Há uma explicação: o ?vidente? Polvo Paul havia previsto a vitória dos alemães, assim como previu que a Espanha se sagraria campeã mundial.
O jornal As trouxe sua admiração aos feitos do polvo logo em sua capa, com o seguinte título: “Bom presságio: Paul acertou e a Alemanha ganhou”.
No portal do jornal Marca, o polvo foi lembrado somente no subtítulo e na matéria da partida. O subtítulo diz: “O Polvo Paul voltou a certar e, como predisse, a Alemanha acabou se impondo contra o Uruguai em uma partida espetacular que venceram os (jogadores) de Low com um gol de Khedira no final”.
Paul virou notícia no mundo todo quando começou a acertar os resultados das partidas da Alemanha na Copa do Mundo. Nos sete duelos dos alemães no Mundial, Paul não errou um resultado sequer, sempre acertando o vencedor.
Depois dos duelos das semifinais, o molusco apontou que a Espanha venceria a Holanda na final do Mundial. Esta foi, inclusive, a primeira partida que não envolve a seleção alemã que o polvo fez previsão.
A escolha de Paul é feita no aquário em que vive, quando os responsáveis por o alimentarem colocam duas caixas com as bandeiras dos países envolvidos na partida com alimento dentro. A seleção da caixa que o molusco escolheu venceu todas as partidas até o momento.
